  • Develop technical safety & security standards for BPS facilities.
  • Recommend safety & security projects so each facility aligns with district standards.

Basis for Establishment:

  • School safety is of paramount importance, and best practices continually evolve.
  • Recommend plan for BPS to dedicate resources to ongoing school security facility & technological needs.
  • Ask that a community committee come together to:
    • Review a technical security standard for BPS facilities.
    • Develop a process to determine priorities and implement a plan for facility security upgrades to the built environment.

Decision-Making Process:

  • Recommendations will be presented to the superintendent.

  • Review and revise BPS school safety technical standards.
  • Develop vision/mission statement for BPS school safety.
  • Evaluate each facility in regard to standards; recommend priorities.
  • Review prioritization process: using facility modification review system to address safety needs as they arise.
  • Develop a four-year spending plan for capital levy dollars dedicated to safety & security.
  • Identify future bond & levy funding priorities.
